Professional Bio
Life’s challenges can bring us to quiet, uncertain places. In these moments, having someone beside you—a calm, compassionate presence—can make all the difference.
I’m Melanie Karl, a Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling based in British Columbia. My work is deeply shaped by personal experience: living with chronic illness, moving through trauma, and recovering from an eating disorder. These journeys have given me a grounded understanding of the courage it takes to heal—and a deep respect for the complexity of that process. They inspire my commitment to walk beside others with intention, empathy, and presence.
My approach is informed by Relational Somatic Therapy—a practice that invites you to listen to your body, understand the language of your nervous system, and learn to support its natural rhythms. Through gentle attention to sensation, emotion, and memory, we create space for healing that is felt—not forced.
While somatic therapy is a central focus of my work, it is not all I do. As an integrative practitioner, I draw from a variety of theories and modalities to meet you where you are and support your unique healing journey. Together, we explore your story—your truths, your pain, and your vision for what’s possible. I believe counselling is a sacred space: a place where you are fully seen and heard, held with warmth, curiosity, and care. Within this space, old patterns can begin to soften, allowing more freedom, resilience, and self-compassion to emerge.
If you feel drawn to work together, I invite you to reach out. It would be an honour to support you on your path.
