Professional Bio
Jaime Adams is a body-centered counselor with a focus on somatic integration, particularly involving the vagus nerve. With ten years of experience in the helping field, Jaime began her journey as a touch therapist in British Columbia, working at a treatment center in the Shuswap. As a somatic-informed therapist, she adopts a nurturing, nature-based approach, helping clients integrate their physical bodies into the therapeutic process to promote healing of both mind and body. Jaime’s therapeutic approach follows the principles of somatic psychotherapy, which uses a “bottom-up” rather than a “top-down” method, focusing on the body’s sensations and responses to guide emotional healing. She also incorporates narrative experiencing and visualization techniques, allowing clients to reframe their personal stories and engage their imagination in the healing process. Over the years, Jaime has expanded her education and qualifications, becoming certified as a Death Doula, Addiction Counsellor, Professional Counsellor, Life Coach, and practitioner of Shadow Integration Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychedelic Preparation/Integration Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Holistic Wellness Counseling. Jaime also works part-time as a disability service worker, supporting nonverbal adults and their families. Her somatic approach enhances her ability to co-regulate and tap into her clients' somatic wisdom, facilitating deeper understanding and connection. In her practice, Jaime integrates body-oriented modalities such as breathwork, meditation, nervous system assessments (vagal toning), narrative work, visualization, and mind-body experiential techniques to provide a holistic and healing therapeutic experience. She believes that by listening to our bodies, we can better understand our whole selves.
