I am a retired paramedic/firefighter and worked as an emergency worker for over twenty years. I am passionate about helping first responders navigate their profession's unique stressors. I specialize in treating trauma, substance abuse and family counselling associated with trauma. As a PTSD' thriver' myself, I can assist my clients in navigating toward a happier and healthier life. I am a registered Counselling Therapist with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association, and I have specialized training in complex trauma, couple's therapy and implementing ketogenic diets for mental health. It can be challenging to find the right therapist who understands emergency services' complexities and can "talk the lingo." Understanding, validating and supporting are the pillars of my practice. I will incorporate different therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and ketogenic diets for enhancing metabolism for optimizing mental health. Depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, suicidal ideation and interpersonal relationships are a few of the issues I can provide support for.
